Try electronic cigarettes say UK government

The UK governments ‘nudge unit’ otherwise known as The Cabinet Office’s Behavioural Insight Team, is recommending smokers who cannot quit entirely should instead use smokeless electronic cigarattes.

The UK government believe this technology should be embraced as the “quit or die” option is not working so instead they believe, as electronic cigarette brands have been saying for a long time, because the addiction is nicotine and yet the cancer causing chemicals are in tobacco, the solution is to remove the tobacco, which electronic cigarettes achieve. Ten million people in the UK still smoke so more enlightened action was required and the government believes the new technology of electronic cigarettes is a healthier alternative.

There have been several recent studies in electronic cigarettes. A respected UK university study concluded they were about “a thousand times healthier” than a traditional cigarettes, yet big tobacco influence in the U.S seems to have prevented the FDA studying these products despite consumers using them for 6 years now. The statements the FDA have made on e-cigs appeared to be intentionally misleading when put in context in comparison to tobacco cigarettes and it gives the impression big tobacco, with all its cancer causing chemicals are being protected. So while in many countries e-cigs remain banned (the consensus of opinion is that this is because big tobacco and tax are shutting the doors on rival products), in the UK the government has a more adversary attitude to big tobacco companies and so have instead advised the use of these products while other countries have banned them, a Cabinet Office source said: “A lot of countries are moving to ban this stuff; we think that’s a mistake.”

With the governments “nudge” team recommending e-cigs, sales of these products are set to soar.
